Note
Connect the male connector on the cable to the female connector on the electrical interface assembly
Step 2
(EIA) at the back of the ONS 15310-MA SDH.
Tighten the two thumbscrews on the male connector.
Step 3
Return to your originating procedure (NTP).

Note
When you use a closed E1 LOROM cable, you need to remove the hex screw of the EIA BIC that faces
the 15305 patch panel, and replace with a tape carrier. Use a tape on this side, in addition to the screw
on the other side.

Always use the supplied ESD wristband when working with a powered ONS 15310-MA SDH. For

Step 1
Place the cable connector over the desired connection point on the backplane.
Step 2
Using the BNC insertion tool, position the cable connector so that the slot in the connector is over the
corresponding notch at the backplane connection point.
Step 3
Gently push the connector down until the notched backplane connector slides into the slot on the cable
connector.
Turn the cable connector clockwise to lock it into place.
Step 4

Tie wrap or lace the cables to the EIA according to Telcordia standards (GR-1275-CORE) or local site
practice.

This task installs the DS-3/E3 cables to connect DS-3/E3 signals to the
ONS 15310-MA SDH.
Shielded coaxial cable terminated with BNC connectors for DS-3/E3 ports
BNC insertion/removal tool (see the Cisco ONS 15310-MA SDH Reference
Manual for information about obtaining the BNC insertion/removal tool)
