Step 4
In the Port Admin State area, click the Set to unlocked radio button.
Step 5
Verify that the Disable OSPF on Link check box is unchecked.
Step 6
If the RS-DCC termination is to include a non-ONS node, check the Far End is Foreign check box. This
automatically sets the far-end node IP address to 0.0.0.0, which means that any address can be specified
by the far end. To change the default to a specific the IP address, see the
DCC Termination" task on page
In the Layer 3 box, perform one of the following:
Step 7
Check the IP box only—if the RS-DCC is between the ONS 15310-MA SDH and another ONS node
and only ONS nodes reside on the network. The RS-DCC will use PPP (point-to-point protocol).
Check the IP and OSI boxes—if the RS-DCC is between the ONS 15310-MA SDH and another ONS
node and third party NEs that use the OSI protocol stack are on the same network. The RS-DCC will
use PPP.
Check OSI box only—if the RS-DCC is between an ONS node and a third party NE that uses the
OSI protocol stack. The RS-DCC will use the LAP-D protocol.
Note
Step 8
If you checked OSI, complete the following steps. If you checked IP only, continue with

In OSP installations, ONS 15310-MA SDH cannot be monitored through a standard
Ethernet/LAN connection. So an alternate connection is established through the optical link of
the aggregated client traffic (SDH) and a supporting NE (Network Element). The support node
(installed indoors) and the ONS 15310-MA SDH OSP node are set up with a direct IP access to
a far-end ONS 15310-MA SDH (OSP) node over a DCC network.
RS-DCC refers to the Section DCC, which is used for ONS 15310-MA SDH DCC terminations.
The SDH Line DCCs and the Section DCC (when not used as a DCC termination by the
ONS 15310-MA SDH) can be provisioned as DCC tunnels. See the
Tunnel" task on page

If OSI is checked and IP is not checked (LAP-D), no network connections will appear in
network view.
Router—Choose the OSI router
ESH—Sets the End System Hello (ESH) propagation frequency. End system NEs transmit
ESHs to inform other ESs and ISs about the NSAPs it serves. The default is 10 seconds. The
range is 10 to 1000 seconds.
ISH—Sets the Intermediate System Hello PDU propagation frequency. Intermediate system
NEs send ISHs to other ESs and ISs to inform them about the unlocked NETs it serves. The
default is 10 seconds. The range is 10 to 1000 seconds.
