Chapter 7 - Creating Avoidance Points
Sorting by bearing

Searching for an avoidance point

Page 7-8
Displaying local avoidance points
To show the avoidance points closest to your current position
(also called local avoidance points), highlight the DISTANCE
column, then enter zeroes into the SEARCH field. The list then
shows at the top of the list those avoidance points that are
closest to your present position.
To show a list of avoidance points sorted by bearing, press the
CURSOR PAD right to highlight the BRG column. When
sorted by bearing, if you want to see all the avoidance points
to the east, for example, look at the part of the list containing
bearings near 090
The 961 automatically updates the BRG column as you con-
tinue to navigate. However, the order of the list won't be
resorted while you're displaying the list; you must either
change columns or leave and return to viewing the AVOID-
ANCE POINTS screen to update the sorting order.
If you've stored hundreds of avoidance points, scrolling
through the entire list to find the one you want may be
tedious. At the AVOIDANCE POINTS screen, you can search for
avoidance points by the same categories as the sorting pro-
cess; that is, you can search by radius, name, distance, and
bearing:
To search for avoidance points by radius, press the CUR-
SOR PAD left to highlight the RAD column (shown at the
far left), then use the KEYPAD to enter the radius.
To search for avoidance points by name, press the CUR-
SOR PAD left or right to highlight the NAME column,
then use the KEYPAD to enter the first few characters, as
necessary, of the avoidance point's name.
To search for avoidance points by distance or bearing,
press the CURSOR PAD left or right to highlight either of
these columns, then use the KEYPAD to enter the dis-
tance or bearing.
