legs, and so on, you may want to turn the track predictor line
off until you are more experienced.
Loran on info bars
You can turn on or off the display of loran TDs on the CHART-
screen INFO BARs (this setup also applies to the CURSOR
INFO BAR). If this feature is on (LORAN INFO BARS), as you
cycle through INFO keypresses, the INFO BARs display your
preferred GRI and all TDs, highlighting the best pair of TDs.
The 961's default setting is ON.
Range rings
The 961's range rings help you find your vessel on the CHART
screen. The purpose of range rings is two-fold: One, they let
you quickly locate your position on the chart; that is, you can
always find your vessel by looking dead center into the small-
est range ring. Two, they graphically illustrate the distance—in
any direction—from a point on the chart to your vessel.
You can turn range rings on or off. When on, the 961 displays
the range rings as circles around your vessel. The radius of the
rings is shown in the lower left corner of the screen, in
user-selectable units (which you select on the DISPLAY
SETUP screen in the DIST/SPEED field). The 961's default set-
ting is ON.
Distance scale bar
You can turn on or off the distance scale bar, which is dis-
played on the left side of the CHART screen. Distance mea-
surements are user-selectable, which you choose on the
DISPLAY SETUP screen in the DIST/SPEED field. The 961's
default setting is ON.
Past trip legs
If the CHART screen gets cluttered with past trip points/legs,
you can turn off their display on the CHART screen. The 961's
default setting is ON.
