4. Enter a waypoint name and optional description, if
desired.
5. Choose a symbol for the waypoint by pressing the 6<0
%2/ menu key until you find a symbol you want
6. Enter the coordinates of the waypoint. (Press the &225'
7<3( menu key to choose from lat/lon, loran TDs, or dis-
tance and bearing coordinates.)
7. Press the (17(5 key to store the new waypoint in the
unit's memory and return to the WAYPTS CHART screen.
The new waypoint is now permanently stored in the unit's
memory, but can be edited or deleted at any time you
want.
For loran TDs, enter any legitimate pair of TDs and the
GRI for the pair. After entering the GRI, check the name of
the GRI which is automatically displayed, to be sure it's
correct.
For distance and bearing, enter the distance and bearing
from your present position, leave the FROM point set to
"HERE," and enter the bearing and the distance to the
desired waypoint. To enter distance and bearing from any
other waypoint stored in the unit, press the )520 menu
key to display a list of waypoints. Press the &85625 3$'
to select the desired waypoint and press the (17(5 key.
Finally, enter the bearing and the distance from the desig-
nated waypoint to the new waypoint.
If you change your mind and want to return to specifying
distance and bearing from your present position instead
of another waypoint, press the )520 +(5( menu key on
the waypoint list screen.
At any time, you can designate new or existing waypoints to
be avoidance areas. Avoidance areas are depicted on the
CHART screen as waypoints surrounded by circles the size of
the warning radius you specified when you either created or
edited a waypoint. The unit automatically uses the "slashed
circle" international no-entry symbol as the waypoint's identi-
