To store a new, named avoidance point at the chart location
designated by the cursor:
1. Press the CURSOR PAD to move the cursor to the desired
location on the CHART screen, then press the CURSOR
menu key.
The SELECTED CURSOR POSITION
appears.
2. If desired, use the KEYPAD to change the coordinates;
next, press the STORE AS WAYPT/ROUTE key.
The STORE AS A WAYPOINT dialog box appears, sup-
plying a default avoidance point name.
3. To provide a user-defined name for the avoidance point,
use the KEYPAD to enter a name in the NAME field
(avoidance points can have up to nine characters); or use
the default avoidance point name, which is the letter W
followed by four digits. If you use the default avoidance
point name, you can always change the name later on the
AVOIDANCE POINTS screen. To erase the entire NAME
field, press the CLEAR ENTRY key.
4. Press the MAKE NEW AVOID key (or press the RETURN
key to cancel).
The 961 stores the new avoidance point, and returns to
the CHART screen, showing the navigation information
about this new avoidance point in the CURSOR INFO
BAR. Avoidance points are not displayed on the TRIP
screen.
Making a new route
To make a new route on the CHART screen by storing the cur-
sor location as the first waypoint of a new route:
1. Press the CURSOR PAD to move the cursor to the desired
location on the CHART screen, then press the CURSOR
menu key.
The SELECTED CURSOR POSITION
appears.
2. If desired, use the KEYPAD to change the coordinates; if
not, press the STORE AS WAYPT/ROUTE key.
