Chapter 13 - Customizing Setup Functions
OBJECTIVE:
You're out cruising and
have decided to go to an
area for which you have
the Chart CD and cur-
rent Update CD; how-
ever, you don't have a
chart permit for that
chart (you're either a
Navigator or Skipper
user). You've contacted
your ARCS agent/distrib-
utor via ship-to-shore
radio and obtained a per-
mit for this chart. Now
you must manually enter
the chart permit before
loading the chart onto
the 961.
Page 13-44
Manually entering a chart permit
You can obtain a chart permit via ship-to-shore or email, but it
is preferable to obtain your chart permits through the usual
method (Permit Disk), since chart permits are 35 to 42 charac-
ter numbers that can be time-consuming to enter manually.
To manually enter a new chart permit (before loading a chart),
you'll need:
the Chart CD (contains the charts)
the Update CD (contains the updates to those charts)
the chart permit for the desired chart
1. Press the STAR key until you display the SETUP MENU
screen, then press the CHART INVENTORY key.
2. At the CHART INVENTORY screen, press the LOAD/
UPDATE CHARTS key.
3. Insert the Update CD into the CD-ROM drive.
4. Press the LOAD CHARTS key.
5. At the SELECT CHART SOURCE screen, press the LIST
CHARTS key.
The 961 scans the CD for the charts and displays the
CHARTS ON DISK screen. Each chart for which you have
a permit is marked LOAD in the OPTION column.
