2. To proceed, accept the ADVISORY MESSAGE by pressing
any of the five function keys.
If chart CDs for your geographical area have been
installed onto the 961's hard drive, and after the unit
acquires GPS signals, you'll see your vessel symbol cen-
tered on the CHART screen at your present position. Until
the 961 acquires GPS signals, a small position-fix triangle
will be located at the last known position.
If there aren't any charts covering your geographic loca-
tion installed on the hard drive, the 961 displays a plotter
grid instead of a chart.
Two minutes after power-up and thereafter, if GPS data is unavail-
able for more than three seconds, the 961 considers GPS position
unknown, and activates a non-clearable GPS alarm. You'll receive
the alarm message
FIX
.
The
course-over-ground (COG), lat/lon, and TDs and GRI are replaced
by dashed lines.
Turning the system off
The procedure for turning off a system with two control heads
is slightly different than turning off a system with one head.
Single-head system
To turn off the entire system (the control head and the proces-
sor):
1. Press and hold the PWR key for approximately three sec-
onds, and the 961 will turn off.
Two-head system
To turn off a 961 system with two control heads that are on:
1. Press and hold the PWR key for approximately three sec-
onds, and the POWER-OFF dialog box appears.
