Purchasing charts
Loading BSB charts

• delete individual HCRF chart permits and charts, or all
HCRF-specific information
• view your HCRF user permit and license
• view a list of installed HCRF charts (along with the Chart
CDs and Update CDs used to load these charts)
• view a list of HCRF permits on the 961
• enter your Northstar operator code (NOC) or HCRF user
permit (which identifies you and your 961 to the UKHO)
• sort or search any chart list by chart number, name, usage,
or scale
• display detailed information about any highlighted chart
• change the 961's usage of charts by marking individual
charts as preferred, normal, or avoid
• list and select chart files on a CD
To purchase BSB charts, call your local chart vendor, or else
call Maptech at 978/933-3000 or NDI at 800/563-0634.
To purchase HCRF charts, call your local chart vendor, or else
call ARCS Customer Services at +44 (0)1823 723366 or visit
the UKHO's website at www.ukho.gov.uk (click on the "charts"
link) for a list of worldwide Admiralty Charts and Publications
agents/distributors. Note that every time you purchase HCRF
charts, you'll need to give this agent/distributor your user per-
mit (to view your user permit, see "Viewing your HCRF user
permit and license" starting on page 13-51).
From the BSB source CD, you can load all the charts onto the
961, or only the ones you want.
Before you load BSB charts onto the 961's chart database, you may
want to first list the charts that are on the source CD (see "Display-
ing a list of charts on a CD" starting on page 13-60), then follow the
guidelines below to load either all charts or only marked charts. Why
list charts first? Listing charts lets you display an
bottom of the screen, which lists the size (in megabytes) of the CD,
and the size (also in megabytes) of the space that's left on the 961
for more charts: If the size of the charts on the CD is larger than the
