KEYPAD to enter a name in the NAME field (waypoint
names can have up to nine characters); or, use the default
waypoint name, which is a W followed by four digits. If
you use the default waypoint name, you can always
change the name later on the WAYPOINTS screen. To
erase the entire NAME field, press the CLEAR ENTRY key.
4. Press the MAKE NEW WAYPOINT key (or press the
RETURN key to cancel).
The 961 stores the new waypoint, and returns to the
CHART screen, showing the navigation information about
this new waypoint in the CURSOR INFO BAR.
Making a new avoidance point
You can create avoidance points with a user-defined name and
radius that are displayed on the CHART screen. If you try to
navigate into these areas, the 961 displays two alarms: One
alarm advises you that you are approaching an avoidance
point that's in your trip, and the other alarm advises you that
you are now inside the radius of an avoidance area.
