Displaying avoidance points

Graphical display
961 Operations and Reference Manual Rev. D
The 961's avoidance-point alarm is only an
extra safety feature that helps inform you of
possible hazards. It doesn't replace the per-
son on watch, local knowledge, proper use of
charts, or any other aspects of good seaman-
ship required for safe navigation.
The 961 displays avoidance points on three different screens.
For the type of display and its corresponding location, see
"Table 5: Displaying avoidance points" below.

Displaying avoidance points on the chart screen
The 961 displays avoidance points on the CHART screen by
using a standard avoidance-point symbol, which is the univer-
sal caution symbol (an exclamation point inside a triangle). If
the points' radii are sufficiently large, the caution symbol will
be centered inside a visible red circle. Unlike waypoints, you
can't control the appearance of avoidance points on the
CHART screen; the 961 always displays all avoidance points
with this symbol and their user-defined names.
