the slider, the smaller the list. The slider also indicates your
position in the list, i.e. at the top, in the middle, at the bottom,
or anywhere else in between. If there aren't any user-defined
waypoints in the database, the SETUP DEMO MODE screen
will be empty.
2. To select a starting position for demo mode, you can use
any of the following:
the 961's last position fix (as lat/lon, outlined in a flash-
>
ing red/green box at the bottom of the SETUP DEMO
MODE screen)
one of the waypoints stored in the database
>
user-entered lat/lon coordinates

To use the 961's last position fix as a starting position, and
start demo mode, skip to step #3.
-or -
To use one of the stored waypoints as a starting position,
press the USE WAYPT key, then press the CURSOR PAD
to highlight a starting waypoint (if necessary, you can
search the waypoint list for a starting waypoint) in the
flashing red/green box. After you've highlighted a way-
point, its lat/lon coordinates appear in the LATITUDE and
LONGITUDE fields at the bottom of the screen. To edit
these coordinates, press the EDIT key, and enter the
desired lat/lon, course, and speed.

To enter new lat/lon coordinates for your starting posi-
tion, press the CURSOR PAD left, right, up, and down to
separately highlight the LATITUDE and LONGITUDE fields
(the cursor defaults to the COURSE field), then edit these
fields as desired.
3. To simulate motion, enter course and speed in the
COURSE and SPEED fields at the bottom of the screen.
4. To start demo mode, press the START key.
A dialog box appears, asking if you want to enable NMEA/
PPNM outputs for the next 10 minutes.
