6. You can either press the ADD TO END OF ROUTE key, or
wait nine seconds; in either case, the 961 automatically
creates a *SAVEDXX* waypoint. As long as the VESSEL
POSITION dialog box is up, you can press the SAVE key
again and again to save points in the route, rather than
waiting for the nine-second countdown.
To display the new route on the CHART screen, go to the
ROUTES screen and mark the new route for display by
selected it and pressing the ON CHART key.
Repeat step #5 at each point where you want to add a
waypoint to the route.
To stop saving waypoints to this route at any time, press
the SAVE key, then within the nine-second period, press
the STOP SAVING ROUTE key.
You can perform these same functions while you're displaying
the ROUTES screen: Press the NEW ROUTE key, enter a new
route name (or use the default route name), and press the
START SAVING ROUTE key. This procedure creates a new,
empty route, and the 961 adds *SAVEDXX* waypoints to this
route each time you press the SAVE key. To stop saving way-
