page 13-2.
The usual display of your present position on the CHART
screen shows your vessel centered on the CHART screen. You
can immediately find your present position as it relates to your
desired track and any nearby waypoints, nav aids, land masses,
and so on. Your vessel remains centered on the chart, while
the chart moves underneath your vessel.
When the vessel moves near the edge of a chart, the 961 auto-
matically switches to another available chart. If more than one
is available, the 961 tries to choose one that you've marked as
PREFER, or one that's about at the same zoom in/zoom out
level as the chart you'd been using. (For details about marking
charts as PREFER, see "Common chart functions" starting on
page 13-60.)
You can display your present position on the CHART screen at
any time by pressing the CHART key from within any function
of the 961. You're never more than one keypress away from
returning to the CHART screen.
Here's the list of functions you can perform at the CHART
screen:
•
specify a new waypoint to go to now
•
add new waypoints to the end of the trip
•
restart your desired track (if you've gone off-course)
•
select, view, and search for new charts, or display a plotter
grid
•
view NOAA tide-station data for the 24-hour period of a
chosen date
•
view currents for the 24-hour period of a chosen date
