3.2.5 Removing Files and Deleting Directories

Use the delete and rd commands to delete files and remove directories. Directories
must be empty before they can be removed. When file or directories are deleted they
cannot be recovered.
Use the following CLI syntax to delete files and remove directories:

The following example shows command syntax usage:
A:ALA-1>file cf1:\test1\ # delete test.cfg
A:ALA-1>file cf1:\test1\ # delete abc.cfg
A:ALA-1>file cf1:\test1\test2\ # cd test3
A:ALA-1>file cf1:\test1\test2\test3\ # cd ..
A:ALA-1>file cf1:\test1\test2\ # rd test3
A:ALA-1>file cf1:\test1\test2\ # cd ..
A:ALA-1>file cf1:\test1\ # rd test2
A:ALA-1>file cf1:\test1\ # cd ..
A:ALA-1>file cf1:\ # rd test1

3.2.6 Displaying Directory and File Information

Use the dir command to display a list of files on a file system.
Use the type command to display the contents of a file.
Use the version command to display the version of a cpm.tim or iom.tim file.
Use the following CLI syntax to display directory and file information:

*A:card-1>file cf1:\ # dir
Directory of cf1:\

Volume in drive cf1 on slot A is /flash.
