Setting for the PUR glue

3-18-2
Setting for the PUR glue
Follow steps 3-2 through 3-4.
• When handling PUR glue, make sure to order
the safety data sheet from the PUR glue
supplier, then read and follow the instruction.
• The melt tanks are heated to a temperature of
about 130°C (250°F). Wear insulating thermo
gloves made of tightly woven cotton to do this
job. The hot glue may cause burns.
• Toxic gases may be generated when PUR is
used. Be absolutely certain to install a smoke
extractor or similar device, wear breathing
protection half mask with gray and brown
filters, and ventilate the area completely.
• Keep the melting temperature of PUR in the
range of the specified temperature.
Pour the PUR into the tank.
• Melt the PUR separately in a drying oven or
pre-melter, then pour it into the tank.
• It is a good idea to use the optional Teflon
beaker for this job.
• The upper limit of the glue is 3 mm
(0.12") below the top surface of the
tank fins with the roller stopped.
• The lower limit of the glue is 12 mm
(0.47") below the top surface of the
tank fins with the roller stopped.
Rotate the roller for about a minute.
• Press
This starts the roller.
• This is necessary to stabilize the temperature
of the PUR above the roller.
Continue with the binding job.
• Refer to the steps in Section 3-5 through 3-17.
• Normally the PUR will break down after several
hours of exposure to heat and the moisture in
the air. If the PUR has started to break down,
or if the viscosity has increased, replace it.
