Manual Setup Procedures

This section describes some settings which must be done manually.

3-3-1 With cover scoring

The position of the lower scoring roller is
automatically adjusted to match the book
block thickness.
The upper scoring roller must be manually
engaged with the lower scoring roller. The
method used is described here.
The distance between the scores cannot be
set to less than 2 mm (0.08").
Disengage the scoring rollers so that they
move freely.
(1) Open the cover feed section cover.
(2) Turn the locking knobs on both sides to
disengage the locks.
(3) Loosen the pressure adjusting knobs on both
sides by turning them counterclockwise.
• Lift the upper scoring shaft, and turn the
pressure adjusting knobs counterclockwise
until the upper scoring roller moves freely.
Engage the upper and lower rollers.
(1) Engage the upper scoring roller with the lower
scoring roller using the accessory adjusting pin.
(2) Tighten the pressure adjusting knobs. (Tighten
them by the same amount on each side.)
• Stop tightening the knobs when they feel a
little stiff. At this setting, the upper and lower
transport rollers are just touching each other.
If the knobs are tightened too far, the
covers may be cut by the scoring rollers.
(This depends on the type of cover sheet.)
Keep tightening the pressure adjusting
knobs, and stop tightening them when
they feel a little stiff.
(3) Turn the locking knobs on both sides to engage
the locks.
(4) Close the cover feed section cover.
