Problems with the Main Part of the Machine
4-7-1 Covers misfeeding
Where to check
The feed table is too
low.
The vacuum for the
feed rotor is not
strong enough.
The double feed stop
pad has been raised
too high.
The covers are being
held by the side
guides.
The cover thickness
must be within the
specifications range.
The circuit breaker
for the cover feed
section blower has
been tripped.
(Turn on the blower
using the Information
– Single Operation –
Cover Feed screen,
and check whether
you can hear the
blower.)
Cause and solution
• If the feed table is too low, the covers cannot

Covers screen to increase the vacuum to the
feed rotor.

• When the double feed stop pad height
adjusting lever is lowered to its lowest

stop pad is raised to its highest position), this
can create a large drag on the covers,
preventing them from feeding.
• Raise the double feed stop pad height
adjusting lever. This lowers the double feed

• The width of the cover side guides is
automatically set to match the size of the
covers. If the width is reduced further using
the cover side guide width setting using the
Bookbinding - Fine-Tune Adjustment Covers
screen, this will increase the drag on the
covers.

• Try increasing the side guide width.

• The maximum thickness for the covers is
302 gsm for normal paper (110 lb cover) and
348 gsm for coated paper (130 lb cover).
• Use cover stock with the correct
specification.

• If you cannot hear the blower, check whether
the circuit breaker has been tripped.
• If the circuit breaker trips again, call the
service technician.
