Cause and solution
• If the first wiper is open too far, large
quantities of glue will be pushed into the
spines, and the spines will not open normally
due to the amount of glue. Wrinkles will form
if the covers are then placed over the book
blocks and nipped.
• Adjust the first wiper opening to a narrower
setting using the Bookbinding - Fine-Tune

• The milling cutter is chipped. If the milling

cutter or upper knife is worn, the cutting
quality will deteriorate, and the bottoms of
the book blocks will come loose.
• Replace the cutter or knife.

(0.008"), insert one or more spacers (0.1 mm

or 0.004" per spacer) underneath the milling
cutter to raise the cutter.
