How to check whether the covers are
scored perfectly straight
• As shown in the figure to the right, any skewing is easier
to see if the covers are folded in half.
• If the covers are scored diagonally, this is usually
because they are crooked as they move through this
section.
Where to check
The side guides must
not be positioned
right up against the
covers.
The two pressure
adjusting knobs must
be set correctly.
The covers
themselves must be
cut square.
The transport rollers
are dirty.
You may need to use
the cover holder.
Cause and solution
• There should always be a small clearance
between the side guides and the covers. If
the side guides are too close together so that
they touch the covers, the covers may not be
fed straight. Use the cover side guide width
setting using the Bookbinding - Fine-Tune
Adjustment - Covers screen to correct this.

• If the these knobs are set differently at the
front and back, the pressure created by the
upper and lower transport rollers will also be
different. As a result, the rollers will produce
a different amount of drive at the front and
back, and the covers will be fed diagonally.
Set the pressure rollers so that the front and
