5-18-2 Carriage clamp rails

WARNING
Before lubricating the sections, turn the
power switch off.
Turn the power switch off.
Open the right front cover and cover feed
section cover.
Cover the cover lifting guide with a cloth,
paper, etc.
• This will prevent grease from sticking to the
cover lifting guide. This could cause the covers
to get dirty during binding.
Apply grease to the carriage clamp rails.
(1) If paper dust or dirt is stuck to the rails, use a
rag to remove it.
(2) Use a brush or similar tool to apply the grease
to the rails in locations where you can reach the
rails.
(3) Apply grease to the chain between the carriage
clamps as shown in the figure to the right.
Also apply grease to the rear carriage
clamp rail.
CAUTION
Be careful not to apply too much grease.
If too much grease is applied, it will drip
down and get onto the books.
