 Operation mode basics
• The operation mode specifies the source of the start command and the frequency command for the inverter.
• Basically, there are following operation modes.
External operation mode :
PU operation mode :
Network operation mode :
(NET operation mode)
• The operation mode can be selected from the operation panel or with the communication instruction code.

NOTE
• There are two settings of "3" and "4" with PU/External combined operation. The startup method differs according to the
setting value.
• In the initial setting, the stop function (PU stop selection) by the operation panel or the parameter unit
modes other than the PU operation mode. (Refer to Pr.75 Reset selection/disconnected PU detection/PU stop
selection on page 162.)
For inputting a start command and a frequency command with an external potentiometer and switches
which are connected to the control circuit terminal.
For inputting a start command and a frequency command with the operation panel, parameter unit, or the
RS-485 communication via PU connector.
For inputting a start command and a frequency command using the RS-485 terminals or communication
option.
