10B-10 AIR BAG SYSTEM
AIR BAG DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK FLOW TABLE
STEP
1
1) Make sure that battery voltage is
about 11V or higher.
2) Note "AIR BAG" warning lamp
as ignition switch is tuned ON.
3) Does "AIR BAG" warning lamp
come ON when ignition switch is
tuned ON?

Does "AIR BAG" warning lamp
come ON steady?

Does "AIR BAG" warning lamp keep
flashing (indicating DTC) when igni-
tion switch is ON?

Does "AIR BAG" warning lamp turn
OFF, after flashing 6 times?

1) Check DTC. Refer to DIAGNOS-
TIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC)
CHECK.
2) Is DTC 12 indicated?
NOTE:
See NOTE 1 below.

NOTE 1:
When "AIR BAG" warning lamp doesn't indicate flashing pattern of DTC while diagnosis switch terminal
on "AIR BAG" monitor coupler is grounded, proceed to TABLE D.
NOTE 2:
As execution of the DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) CLEARANCE will clear all DTCs, be sure to re-
cord all DTCs before servicing.
ACTION
YES
Go to Step 2.
"AIR BAG" warning lamp come
ON steady without flashing.
Proceed to TABLE A.
"AIR BAG" warning lamp
flashes.
Proceed to TABLE C.
Go to Step 5.
Air bag system is in good condi-
tion.
Substitute a known-good SDM
and recheck.
NO
"AIR BAG" warning lamp does
not come ON.
Proceed to TABLE B.
Go to Step 3.
Go to Step 4.
Go to Step 6.
NOTE:
See NOTE 2 below.
An intermittent trouble has oc-
curred at some place.
Check the connector harness,
etc. related to the senced DTC
(Refer to INTERMITTENT
AND POOR CONNECTIONS
in this section).
Then clear DTC (Refer to
DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE
CODE (DTC) CLEARANCE)
and repeat this table.
NOTE:
See NOTE 2 below.
Check and repair according to
Flow Table corresponding to
that DTC.
