EGR SOLENOID VACUUM VALVE
INSPECTION
1) With ignition switch at OFF position, disconnect connector from
EGR solenoid vacuum valve (1).
2) Measure resistance between two terminals of solenoid vacuum
valve.
Resistance: 36 – 44
If resistance is as specified, proceed to next operation check,

If not, replace.
3) Disconnect vacuum hoses (2), (3) from EGR back pressure
transducer and throttle body.
4) Blow into hose "A". Air should come out of filter and not out of
nozzle "B".
5) Connect 12 V-battery (1) to EGR solenoid vacuum valve termi-
nals. In this state, blow hose "A".
Air should come out of nozzle "B" and not out of filter.
If check result is not as described above, replace EGR solenoid
vacuum valve.
6) Connect solenoid vacuum valve connector securely.
7) Connect vacuum hoses securely.

SYSTEM INSPECTION
NOTE:
Before inspection, check to make sure that gear shift lever is
in neutral position (with A/T model, selector lever in "P"
range) and that parking brake lever is pulled all the way up.
1) Warm up engine to normal operating temperature.
2) Disconnect vacuum hose (2) from "A" of EVAP canister purge
valve (1). With finger placed against hose disconnected, check
that vacuum is applied when engine is running at idle speed.
If it is not applied, check hoses for connection, leakage, clog
and deterioration.
Clean vacuum passage by blowing compressed air. Replace as
necessary.
3) If it is applied, connect vacuum hose to EVAP canister purge
valve.
at 20 C (68 F)
