Rocker Arms and Lost Motion Assemblies
Inspection (D16Y5, Dt6Y8 enginesl
N O T E r W h e n r e a s s e m b l i n g t h e p r i m a r y r o c k e r a r m ,
c a r e f u l l y a p p l y a i r p r e s s u r e t o t h e o i l p a s s a g e o f t h e
rocker arm.
1. Inspect the rocker arm piston. push it manually.

lf it does not move smoothly, replace the rocker
a r m a s s e m b t y .

NOTE:
. Apply oil to the pistons when reassembling.
o Bundle the rocker arms with a rubber band to prevent
them from separating.

NOTE: Set the timing plate and return spring as shown
oerow.

2. Remove the lost motion assembly from the holder
and inspect it. Test it by pushing the plunger with
your finger.

l f t h e l o s t m o t i o n a s s e m b l y p l u n g e r d o e s n o t
move smoothly, replace it.
