NOTEI
. B a c k - o u t t h e m a i n s h a f t h o l d e r b o l t a n d l o o s e n
the two hex bolts.
. F i t t h e h o l d e r o v e r t h e m a i n s h a f t s o i t s l i p i s
toward the transmission.
. A l i g n t h e m a i n s h a f t h o l d e r ' s l i p a r o u n d t h e
g r o o v e a t t h e i n s i d e o f t h e m a i n s h a f t s p l i n e s ,
then tighten the hex bolts.

Seat the mainshaft fully by tapping on the end with
a plastic hammer.
T h r e a d t h e m a i n s h a f t h o l d e r b o l t i n u n t i l i t j u s t
contacts the wide surface of the mainshaft base.

e. Zero a dial gauge on the end ofthe mainshaft.

Turn the mainshaft holder bolt clockwise: stop turn,
ing when the dial gange has reached its maximum
m o v e m e n t . T h e r e a d i n g o n t h e d i a l g a u g e i s t h e
amount of mainshaft end olav.
CAUTION: Turning the mainshaft holder bolt more
than 60 degre€s after the needle ot the dial gauge
stops moving may damage the iransmission.
lf the reading is within the standard. the clearance is
correcl.
lf the reading is not within the standard, recheck the
shim thickness.
Standard: 0.11 - 0.18 mm {0.00it - 0.007 in}
