Test the VTEC Solenoid Valve:
1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
2. Disconnect the wEC solenoid
valve 1P connector.
3 . A t t a c h t h e b a t t e r y p o s i t a v e
terminal to the VTEC solenoid
valve terminal.
4 . S t a r t t h e e n g i n e a n d c h e c k
t h e o i l p r e s s u r e a t e n g i n e
speed of 5,000 rpm.
Inspect lhe VTEC solonoid valve
lsee p6ge m).
ls the pressure above 390 kPa
(4.0 kgtcm' ,57 psi)?
Test the VTEC Pressure Switch:
With the battery positive terminal
connected to the VTEC solenoid
valve, measure voltage between
the ECM/PCM connector terminal
' 9 6 - 9 8 : C l 5 , ' 9 9 - 0 0 : C 1 0 a n d
body ground.

T6st the VTEC Solenoid Valve
wire:
1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
2. Check for continuity between
t h e V T E C s o l e n o i d v a l v e 1 P
c o n n e c t o r t e r m i n a l a n d t h e
ECM/PCM connector terminal
'96 - 98: A8, '99 00r B'12.
Repair open in the wire between
the ECM/PCM ('96 - 98: A8, '99 -
0o: 8l2l and VTEC solenoid v.lv6
