the remote node. If it is online, retry the CLI command or use a similar Fabric Manager procedure.
Contact your customer service representative for assistance if it still fails. Cisco CLI commands may
be used to access the node directly as an alternative.

Cisco MDS SAN-OS Release 1.3(1).
Introduced
SVC-4-NODE_WARNING_MSG: (SVC [dec]/[dec]
Explanation
A software upgrade has failed. The cause might be hardware error or it might be
because of a failure in the new version of the software. An automatic software downgrade is
performed to restore the nodes to their previous software version. This is indicated in the log by a
"software downgrade complete" entry. If the downgrade operation fails to downgrade a node, for
example because it is offline, the download operation stops and waits for the offline SAN Volume
Controller to be repaired or deleted from the cluster. While the downgrade operation is in progress,
configuration commands sent to the cluster fail with a message indicating that a software upgrade
operation is still in progress. The downgrade operation might take up to three hours.
1. Display the status of the nodes on the cluster. 2. Delete any offline node
Recommended Action
from the cluster if any node is offline. If the deletion fails with a message indicating that a software
upgrade is in progress, this means that the downgrade process is still active. Wait for this operation
to either complete or stop on the offline node and then retry the delete. If the downgrade operation
had stopped, it now continues. 3. Solve all logged hardware problems. 4. Ask the user to retry the
software installation. 5. If the installation fails again, report the problem to your customer support
representative. 6. Mark the error you have just repaired as fixed.
