clear counters
To clear interface counters, use the clear counters command.
Syntax Description
FastEthernet interface_number
GigabitEthernet interface_number
null interface_number
port-channel number
vlan vlan_id
Defaults
This command has no default settings.

Usage Guidelines
This command clears all the current interface counters from all interfaces unless you specify an
interface.
Note
This command does not clear counters retrieved using SNMP, but only those seen when you enter the
show interface counters command.
Examples
This example shows how to clear all interface counters:
Switch# clear counters
Clear "show interface" counters on all interfaces [confirm] y

Modification
Support for this command was introduced on the Catalyst 4500 series switch.
Support for extended VLAN addresses was added.

are from 1 to 9.
(Optional) Specifies the Gigabit Ethernet interface; valid values
are from 1 to 9.

(Optional) Specifies the channel interface; valid values are
from 1 to 64.
(Optional) Specifies the VLAN; valid values are from 1 to
4096.
