Fault 103: Starter/Generator Temperature
Sensor Failure

Fault Description
This fault is reported when the temperature sensors in the starter/generator (S/G) for the FET and the motor fail.
Circuit Description
There are three internal temperature sensors in the starter/generator (S/G): FET temperature, motor
temperature, and logic board temperature.
Recommended Service Actions
Step 1: Verify that the fault repeats.

Pass
The fault did not repeat. Go to

If the fault does not repeat, an isolated event has occurred.
Fail
The fault repeated. Go to Step 2.
Step 2: Remove the S/G assembly from the machine.
Remove the S/G assembly from the machine. Refer to Chapter 6 of the 3320/3420 Service Manual. Use the
Removal procedure in either the Generator Assembly (Greensmaster 3320) section or the Generator Assembly
(Greensmaster 3420), depending on your machine.
Step 3: Install a replacement S/G assembly.
Install a replacement S/G assembly into the machine. Refer to Chapter 6 of the 3320/3420 Service Manual.
Use the Installation procedure in either the Generator Assembly (Greensmaster 3320) section or the Generator
Assembly (Greensmaster 3420), depending on your machine.
Step 4: Use Toro DIAG to program the S/G.
1. Connect a PC with Toro DIAG software to the machine via a Toro DIAG Cable (Part No. 115-1944). Refer
to Toro DIAG–Quick Start (page
2. Use the Toro DIAG software to reprogram the machine in accordance with Toro DIAG User's Guide. The
replacement S/G controller is programmed during the reprogramming of the machine.
3. Once programming is complete, disconnect the Toro DIAG cable from the machine.
4. Go to Returning the Machine to Service (page 21)
