Fault 89: 48 V Bus Overvolt –
Starter/Generator
InfoCenter Display:
Fault Description
This fault is reported when voltage greater than 65 V is detected by the starter/generator (S/G) controller. The
presence of this fault will disable the PTO and the generator.
Circuit Description
The S/G controller monitors the 48 V bus voltage level.
Recommended Service Actions
Step 1: Verify that the fault repeats.

Clear the system faults from the InfoCenter. Refer to

Operate the machine.
Pass
The fault did not repeat. Go to
Note:
If the fault does not repeat, an isolated event has occurred.
Fail
The fault repeated. Go to Step 2.
Step 2: With the engine shut off, check the voltage in the 48 V battery
system.
1.
Unplug the 48 V power disconnect on the left side of the machine
2.
Test for 45–55 volts across the plug with the T-handle attached.
Pass
There is between 45–55 volts of battery power available. Go to Step 4.
Fail
There is not 45 volts of battery power available. Go to Step 3.
Step 3: Test each individual battery in the 48 V battery group.
1.
Accomplish the Battery Pack Removal procedure detailed in Chapter 6 of the Greensmaster TriFlex
3320/3420 Service Manual.
2.
Test each of the 12 V batteries. The readings should be 11.5 to 13.5 V.
3.
If any of the 12 V batteries fail the test, replace all of the 12 V batteries.
4.
Clean and inspect all of the cables and hardware. Replace any damaged or corroded components.
5.
Accomplish the battery pack installation procedure detailed in Chapter 6 of the Greensmaster TriFlex
3320/3420 Service Manual.
6.
Test for 45–55 volts across the 48V power disconnect plug.
