Pass
The output current test passed. Go to Step 4.
Fail
The output current test did not pass. Repair or replace the faulty wiring to pin 2. Go to
Machine to Service (page 21)
Step 4: Test the Start Relay.
The start relay is located under the right side cover. It is a 5-terminal relay with a 12-volt coil.
1.
Disconnect the wire harness connector from the relay.
2.
Remove the relay from the mounting panel.
3.
Check the relay and the harness connector for damage or corrosion and clean or repair as necessary.
4.
Using a multimeter, verify that coil resistance between terminals 85 and 86 is from 71 to 88 ohms.
5.
Verify infinite resistance (no continuity) exists between terminals 30 and 87.
6.
Connect multimeter (ohms setting) leads to relay terminals 30 and 87. Ground terminal 86 and apply
+12 V to terminal 85. The relay should make and break continuity between terminals 30 and 87 as
voltage is applied and removed from terminal 85.
7.
Connect multimeter (ohms setting) leads to relay terminals 30 and 87A. Apply +12 V to terminal 85. The
relay should make and break continuity between terminals 30 and 87A as +12 V is applied and removed
from terminal 85.
Pass
The start relay tested good. Go to Step 5.
Fail
The start relay did not test good. Replace the start relay. Go to
(page 21)
and follow the steps listed.
Step 5: Test the harness wiring from the key switch.
Test for continuity from the key switch to the primary TEC controller.
and follow the steps listed.
