Step 3: Check the engine oil.
Verify that the proper amount of oil is in the engine. Refer to Checking the Engine Oil in the Engine Maintenance
section of the Greensmaster 3420 TriFlex Traction Unit Operator's Manual.
After checking the engine oil level, operate the machine.
Pass
The fault did not repeat. Go to
Fail
The fault repeated. Go to Step 4.
Step 4: Test the 50A 12 V maxi fuse.
1.
Remove the right side cover next to the operator seat.
2.
Locate the 50A maxi fuse.
3.
Remove the fuse and test it.
Pass
The fuse tested good. Install the fuse and go to Step 5.
Fail
The fuse did not test good. Replace the fuse. Go to
and follow the steps listed.
Step 5: Test the fan relay.
Note:
The fan relay used on Greensmaster 3420 machines provides electrical current to the engine cooling fan
when energized by the TEC controller. The fan relay is energized when engine coolant temperature reaches
approximately 185 °F (85 °C).
To test the fan relay, refer to the Greensmaster TriFlex 3320/3420 Service Manual Chapter 6, in the Main
Power, Electric Cutting Reels Enable, Charge Circuit (Greensmaster 3320), Glow (Greensmaster 3420) and
Fan (Greensmaster 3420) Relays section.
Pass
The relay tested good. Install the relay and go to Step 6.
Fail
The relay did not test good. Replace the relay. Go to
and follow the steps listed.
Step 6: Test the wiring from the relay to the electric fan motor.
Use a multimeter to test the resistance between the following pairs of locations:
