CAUTION
Overtightening the harness connector retaining fastener will damage the primary TEC
controller.
After you plug connector P01 back into the TEC, torque the retaining fastener for P01 to 25–28
in-lbs.
Pass
The continuity test passed. Go to Step 3.
Fail
The continuity test failed. Trace the wire from the relay to the primary TEC controller and
locate the damage. Repair or replace the faulty wire.

Step 3: Test the fan relay
Test the fan relay following the procedure in Chapter 6 of the 3320/3420 TriFlex Service Manual.
Pass
The fan relay passed the continuity tests. The fault still repeats. Go to Step 4.
Fail
The fan relay failed the function test. Replace the fan relay. Go to
Service (page 21)
Step 4: Swap the primary TEC with a known good unit.
Note:
TEC controllers are programmed to specific machine model and serial numbers. TEC controllers do not
function until programmed by Toro DIAG.
There are three procedures that you need to accomplish as part of replacing a TEC. Refer to
Electronic Controller (TEC) (page
1.
Use Toro DIAG to save the machine timers and counters file out of the original TEC. (page 23)
2.
Replace the TEC. (page 24)
3.
Use Toro DIAG to program the TEC, and then restore the TD2 file. (page 25)
4.
Duplicate the operation of the machine when the fault occurred with the original primary TEC.
The fault no longer
repeats.
The fault still repeats.
