Fault 43: Hydraulic Oil Temperature Sensor
– Overtemp
InfoCenter Display:
Fault Description
This fault is reported when the hydraulic fluid temperature is measured above 95 ºC (203 ºF). This fault could be
the result of a high temperature condition in the hydraulic circuit or a defect in the temperature monitoring system.
Circuit Description
The hydraulic fluid temperature sensor is attached to the hydraulic tank. The resistance of the temperature
sensor decreases as the fluid temperature in the tank increases. The hydraulic fluid temperature sensor is an
input to the status display and provides information for the hydraulic temperature gauge.
Recommended Service Actions
Step 1: Verify that the fault repeats.
1.
Clear the system faults from the InfoCenter. Refer to
2.
Operate the machine.
Pass
The fault did not repeat. Go to
Note:
If the fault does not repeat, an isolated event has occurred.
Fail
The fault repeated. Go to Step 2.
Step 2: Test the hydraulic temp sender.
1.
Remove the hydraulic temperature sender from the machine.
2.
Follow the service manual procedure to test the temp sender.
Pass
The sender passed the function test. Install it back into the machine. Go to Step 3.
Fail
The sender did not pass the function test. Replace the hydraulic temperature sender. Go to
the Machine to Service (page 21)
Step 3: Test the continuity of the hydraulic temp sender wiring.
