Fault 13: High Temperature Warning – Reel
Motor 1
InfoCenter Display:
Fault Description
This fault is reported when the motor controller temperature exceeds 90 °C (194 °F). If the 90 °C threshold
is reached, the fault is reported and the current being sent to the motor is limited on a linear basis unless a
temperature of 120 °C (248 °F) is reached. If either the motor controller or the reel motor reach 100 °C, the
cutting unit is shut off.
Note:
The Greensmaster TriFlex 3320 and 3420 are designed to cut short grass on golf-course greens and
maintained turf on fairways. When using a TriFlex to cut longer grass on a fairway or in the rough, the cutting
unit motors may overheat simply because they are being overworked. Before trying to troubleshoot this fault,
interview the operator about the mowing conditions when the fault occurred. The source of the fault may be as
simple as the machine being used in a manner outside its designed purpose.
Circuit Description
Temperature sensors monitor components inside the reel motor to protect them from high temperature damage.
The reel motor controller reduces the current to the reel motor in response to the rising temperature, and
eventually stops the cutting reel motor if the temperature keeps rising.
Note:
A faulty temperature sensor in the cutting reel motor does not cause this fault.
Note:
A side effect of this fault is reduced reel speed and an increased chance of fault 17, Motor Speed
Stall – Reel Motor 1.
