Fault 147: Traction Potentiometer Failure
InfoCenter Display:
Fault Description
This fault is reported when the traction sensor is reporting a value that is outside its specified range.
Note:
If the operator wishes to continue mowing while this fault is present, turn the C
is only present when the Clip Control function is switched on. When the fault is present, the machine will set
the reel speed to the operator-chosen 1–9 setting.
Circuit Description
The Clip Control function relies on input from the traction pedal to properly coordinate the speed of the reel
motors relative to the speed of the machine. The traction pedal sensor provides this input, and if it is sending a
voltage signal beyond it's design parameters, it will report a fault.
Recommended Service Actions
Step 1: Verify that the fault repeats.

Clear the system faults from the InfoCenter. Refer to

Operate the machine.

The fault did not repeat. Go to

If the fault does not repeat, an isolated event has occurred.
Fail
The fault repeated. Go to Step 2.
Step 2: Test the traction sensor.
1.
Turn the key to the O

Monitor the InfoCenter while operating the traction pedal.
3.
The voltage should go from 0.5 V (zero pedal input) to 4.5 V (full pedal input).

Turn the key to the O
Pass
The voltage readings were within specifications. Go to Step 3.
Fail
The voltage readings were outside specifications. Refer to the Greensmaster TriFlex 3320/3420
Service Manual and replace the traction potentiometer.

Step 3: Swap the primary TEC with a known good unit.
Note:
TEC controllers are programmed to specific machine model and serial numbers. TEC controllers do not
function until programmed by Toro DIAG.
