Fault 98: 48 V Key Switch Overvolt – Reel
Motor 1
Important:
For this fault, the term "key switch" refers to the 48 V logic power circuit, not to the ignition
key switch.
Note:
If multiple machine faults are reported within a few seconds, troubleshooting should begin with the
first cutting reel motor to report a fault.
InfoCenter Display:
Fault Description
Cutting reel motor 1 has detected that the 48 V logic voltage has exceeded the high voltage limit of 67.5 V. This
fault causes the cutting reel motor to be disabled.
Note:
All 48 V devices are connected to the same 48 V bus. If this is a system issue, the primary TEC
combines all 48 V Key Switch Overvolt faults into a single fault.
Circuit Description
All 3 cutting reel motors share the 48 V logic power with the starter/generator.
Note:
This fault can also occur if the primary TEC loses communication with the motor/generator.
Recommended Service Actions
Step 1: Verify that the fault repeats.
1.
Clear the system faults from the InfoCenter. Refer to
2.
Operate the machine.
Pass
The fault did not repeat. Go to
Note:
If the fault does not repeat, an isolated event has occurred.
Fail
The fault repeated. Go to Step 2.
Step 2: Determine the troubleshooting strategy.
If only 1 cutting reel motor is reporting a 48 V Key Switch Overvolt fault, the problem is more likely to be with the
48 V logic power connection to that cutting reel motor. Go to Step 3.
If more than 1 cutting reel motor is reporting a 48 V Key Switch Overvolt fault, the problem is more likely to be
with the 48 V system voltage. Perform the Recommended Service Actions for fault 46.
Step 3: Inspect the wiring for cutting unit 1.
