7 Data transfer

7.1 Internal 2G- (GSM/GPRS) and 3G modem (UMTS)

The SIM card must always be correctly inserted as described in  chapter 7.1.2. You then proceed
according to modem version as described in the following  chapter.

7.1.1 Distinguishing the internal modem types

Starting with software version 2.50, the EK280 also supports its successor types "ECM-2G-UG350"
(GSM/GPRS) and "ECM-3G-UU270" (GSM/GPRS/UMTS) as well as the previously used 2G modem "ECM-
GW120" (GSM/GPRS).
The actions described in the following chapters of this Application manual differ in certain places depending
on the built-in modem type. The following diagrams show the built-in modem type:
Module with one
ECM GW120:
If the module has already been installed in the EK280 at Elster (no retrofitting on site), the modem types can
also be configured in the EK280 using the "MdxS3" setting in the following menu

7.1.2 Inserting the SIM card

7.1.2.1 Inserting the SIM card with the 2G modem "ECM-GW120"
If an ECM-GW120 modem module is installed in the EK280 ( photo), the SIM is inserted as follows:
For EK280 with internal power supply, the mains voltage must be switched off before opening the
housing
