VNAV EARLY DESCENT TO CAPTURE PATH (VPATH)
An early descent to capture a path is shown in Figure 7--26.
VNAV Early Descent to Capture Path
The VNAV early descent scenario is typical when ATC instructs a
descent before the established TOD point is reached. The steps are as
follows:
An altitude constraint is entered at a waypoint (1). The FMS
D
calculates an angle and TOD (2) for the path descent.
The altitude preselector is set to the ATC cleared altitude (3).
D
The IAS button (4) is pushed to begin the descent.
D
As the path is approached, the vertical deviation is displayed on the
D
EFIS.
