Flight Management System (FMS) for the Agusta AW139/AB139 Helicopter
HOV WAYPOINT
The HOV waypoint is where the helicopter comes to hover downwind
and to the left of the MOT waypoint to give the pilot the ability to view
the intended target and fly manually, when desired. The distance from
the aircraft present position (PPOS) to the HOV waypoint when the
HOV waypoint is the active waypoint is available on the ASCB. The
HOV waypoint is designated in the flight plan and on the MFD with the
symbol HOV.
Lateral -- The HOV waypoint is located 150 ft downwind and 150 ft
D
to the left of the MOT waypoint.
Vertical -- The HOV waypoint is at an altitude of 50 ft AGL. The
D
altitude displayed on the MCDU is displayed as the current elevation
plus 50 ft.
— The 3 degree descent path angle and 50 ft AGL altitude
constraint values are displayed on the MCDU next to the HOV
waypoint.
Sequencing -- The HOV waypoint remains in the flight plan until the
D
MOT is canceled.
FINAL TARGET APPROACH
After the HOV waypoint is reached, the pilot assumes manual control
of the aircraft. When the pilot is finished investigating the target, the
MOT maneuver is normally canceled with a transition up (TU)
maneuver. The transition up maneuver automatically guides the aircraft
up to a minimum altitude and speed for continuation of normal flying
conditions and is activated the same way as a go--around.
MOTXX WAYPOINT
The location of the target in the MOT flight plan is displayed by the
MOTxx waypoint. The MOTxx waypoint is stored in the custom
database and is available for review on the PILOT WPT LIST page until
deleted by the pilot.
The FMS stores the MOTxx waypoints in the custom database for each
flight. Up to nine flights (1--9) are stored and up to 26 (A--Z) MOT
waypoints with each flight. The flight number sequences after a power
up. After the last MOTxx waypoint is created, any subsequent MOTxx
waypoint overwrites any previously existing MOTxx waypoint.
