SEARCH PATTERNS

A search pattern is used for search and rescue (SAR) operations. The
coupled LNAV navigates the desired search pattern while freeing the
pilot for surveillance and communication.
Four types of search and rescue patterns are supported by the FMS:
1. Creeping ladder
2. Parallel
3. Expanding Square
4. Sector

Defining a Search Pattern

The FMS PATTERNS page includes a SEARCH prompt when search
patterns are enabled by APM settings.
A search pattern is defined and reviewed by following Procedure 6--28.
