6.9 Special Operating Procedure to perform configuration updates on
redundant CIU
CIU 888 has a private sync link between the Primary CIU and
Secondary CIU through which the data gets synchronized. During
configuration updates, the configuration is updated to Primary (Active)
CIU and the configuration updates gets synchronized to Secondary
(Passive) CIU through the private sync link. This is the recommended
procedure for most of the customers as CIU 888 takes care of the
configuration synchronization automatically and ensures both Primary
CIU and Secondary CIU has the same configuration.
For certain customers, the need is slightly different. These customers
want to perform the configuration updates to one CIU (Secondary CIU)
in the redundant pair, test the configuration changes and if the
configuration changes are working fine then update the configuration
changes to the partner CIU. The following operating procedure needs to
be followed to achieve this behavior. "CIU A" refers to the Active CIU
and "CIU B" refers to the Passive CIU.
