Alarm Troubleshooting
2.7.118 FE-DS3-NSA
The Far End DS-3 Equipment Failure Non-Service-Affecting (NSA) condition occurs when a far-end
ONS 15454 DS-3 equipment failure occurs in C-bit framing mode, but does not affect service because
the port is protected and traffic is able to switch to the protect port.
Clear the FE-DS3-NSA Condition
To troubleshoot an FE condition, determine which node and card link directly to the card reporting the

FE alarm. For example, an alarm from a card in Slot 12 of Node 1 could link to an alarm from a card in
Slot 6 of Node 2.
Log into the node that links directly to the card reporting the FE condition.
Step 2
Clear the main alarm. Refer to the appropriate alarm section in this chapter for troubleshooting

equipment failure on an ONS 15454 DS-3 card in C-bit framing mode that affects service because traffic
