Configuring FICON

To configure host control of the timestamp, follow these steps:

switch(config)# ficon vsan 2
switch(config-ficon)#
Step 3
switch(config-ficon)# no host
set-timestamp
switch(config-ficon)# host set-timestamp
Clearing the Time Stamp
You can clear time stamps only from the Cisco MDS switch—not the mainframe.
Note
Use the clear ficon vsan vsan-id timestamp command in EXEC mode to clear the VSAN clock.
switch# clear ficon vsan 20 timestamp
Configuring SNMP Control of FICON Parameters
By default, SNMP users can configure FICON parameters through the Cisco MDS 9000 Family Fabric
Manager.
If you disable SNMP in the Cisco MDS switch, you cannot configure FICON parameters using the Fabric

Manager.
To configure SNMP control of FICON parameters, follow these steps:

Enters configuration mode.
Enables FICON on VSAN 2.
Prohibits mainframe users from changing the
VSAN-specific clock.
Allows the host to set the clock on this switch
(default).
Purpose
Enters configuration mode.
Enables FICON on VSAN 2.
Prohibits SNMP users from configuring FICON
parameters.
Allows SNMP users to configure FICON parameters
(default).
