Understanding the alarms

Page 132
The unit has a number of automatic alarms that can alert you
of special situations. For example, when you're approaching a
waypoint, the unit signals you with a distinctive "beep" and a
flashing exclamation-point symbol on the screen (shown at
left).
Press the 67$5 key to access the ALARMS screen (952) or the
ALARMS & BACKLIGHT screen (951), which displays the cause
of the most recent alarm. Press the &/($5 $/$50 menu key
to stop the beeping and the flashing exclamation point on the
screen.
The 951 screen is shown on the left and the 952 screen is
shown on the right.
Although most alarm conditions are "auto clearing" after
approximately five seconds, and don't require any user action,
two alarms—AVOIDANCE AREA and ANCHOR DRAG—must be
acknowledged before the exclamation point can be cleared
from the screen.
The most recent alarm of each type (waypoint, avoidance area,
anchor, communications, and cross-track alarms) is retained in
the unit's memory. This is helpful for viewing "auto-clear"
alarms that you may have been unable to review before the
unit auto-cleared them. Each successive press of the &/($5
$/$50 menu key displays the most recent message for each
type of alarm, along with its time and date.
