951/952 Operator's Manual Rev. B
Chapter 8 - Understanding Waypoint/Route Navigation
As you pass a waypoint while following a route, the boat symbol may
swing around vigorously as it points to the waypoint you're passing. When
the unit switches to the next waypoint, the boat symbol snaps back to
pointing straight ahead.
Your distance from the course line is also displayed numeri-
cally at the bottom of the screen. For information on customiz-
ing the cross-track display format, see "Adjusting the
cross-track scale" starting on page 162.
The 3D STEER screen features a three-dimensional view of
your boat, the current waypoint, the course line to the way-
point, and the locations of any other nearby waypoints. It's
intended to provide a comprehensive picture of your progress
toward the waypoint.
The center of the STEERING screen has a user-selectable area
that you can set to display any of the information listed below.
As shown below, a short line extends from the data box in the
center of the screen to the center menu key. Press the center
menu key to change the type of data displayed. Each press of
the center menu key changes the data displayed in the box
among three choices:
•
Estimated Time Enroute (ETE) to the waypoint, and Esti-
mated Time and Date of Arrival (ETA)
