normal (the factory default option)
hi-brite (best option for bright daylight conditions)
night (best option for nighttime conditions)
Anti-reflection treatment of the display and its window elimi-
nates over 90 percent of the reflection and glare usually
encountered in bright sunlight. Important data on the numeri-
cal position screen is displayed using large numbers that can
be seen from a distance.
To adjust the brightness on the 951, press the 67$5 function
key and use the %5,*+7 and ',0 menu keys to set the desired
illumination. To adjust the contrast, press the double $552:
key (illustrated at left) at the left of the screen.
To adjust the brightness on the 952, press the double $552:
key at the left of the screen. The contrast of the 952's display
screen can't be adjusted.
When the display screen is at full brightness, if the unit becomes too hot
due to external heat conditions, the display screen will automatically dim
to half of its maximum brightness. If you immediately override the
auto-dim function—by pressing the
$552:
ble
key on the 952—the unit will begin to dim again until it
reaches half of its maximum brightness.
The unit contains two independent output ports for driving
NMEA-compatible devices, two input ports for accepting data
from other NMEA devices, and an auxiliary (aux) port. Also
featured is an RS-232 port for input or output of SC-104 DGPS
corrections and for loading waypoint, route, or operating soft-
ware from a personal computer. You can interface the unit to a
wide variety of devices, including autopilots, paper plotters,
radars, and other Northstar 951 and 952 (and 941 units). For
