Chapter 9 - Using Nav Log

Understanding the nav log

Page 128
The nav log feature helps you plan and log your trip. The nav
log provides two main functions: It shows your progress along
your trip, and lets you easily change the remainder of it. The
nav log contains (and displays in sequential order) the series of
waypoints that you follow along your route. When you navi-
gate to a waypoint or along a route from the unit's memory,
the series of waypoints is copied into the nav log, which acts as
a kind of "scratch pad" for monitoring your progress. You can
modify nav log's route in any way you want without affecting
the original route, which remains safely stored in the unit's
memory.
Press the 1$9 /2* key at any time to display the list of way-
points you're currently navigating along.
Press the &85625 3$' to scan through the entire list to show
any waypoint you want. The distance and bearing of each leg
is displayed. From this screen, you can easily read the direc-
tion of the next leg of your trip. Information for safe and effi-
cient planning of your trip is updated as you travel. For each
waypoint, you can display either the waypoint's description, or
the time of arrival at the waypoint; press the 1$0('(6& or
1$0((7$ menu key to select one or the other. For waypoints
you haven't yet passed, the time of arrival displayed is the esti-
mated time of arrival (based on your current speed). For way-
points you have passed, actual times of arrival are shown.
