Cleaning the screen
961/962 Operations and Reference Manual, Rev. A
The following information will help you maintain your 961/
962's high performance level:
•
keep fingerprints off the display screen (remove any prints
with a lens cleaning cloth)
•
don't scratch the display by scraping a sandy or salty cloth
across it
•
remove dirt and grime with Windex and a soft cloth, or
else soap and water
•
don't try to open the control head's case—there aren't any
user-serviceable parts inside
•
use the protective plastic cover during periods of
inactivity
•
never expose the processor to moisture of any kind—it is
not water-resistant! (the control head is waterproof)
CAUTION!
Excessive heat can cause short- and long-term
damage to the 961/962. Although it can recover
from short-term effects, long-term damage may be
permanent. When the 961/962 isn't in use and is
exposed to the hot sun, always shield it with the
protective plastic cover.
Saltwater spray
If left disconnected, the rear connectors behind the control
head may corrode slightly from exposure to saltwater spray.
Keep the plastic caps of the rear connectors in place at all
times. Protect the entire 961/962 from prolonged exposure to
the elements by mounting it, if possible, in a relatively dry
area. At the end of a trip, wipe the control head dry.
Be careful when cleaning the glass window covering the
display screen. Although it's scratch-resistant, you may
damage the anti-reflective coating if you use a dry cloth to
wipe dirt off. When wiping the window, always use a damp cloth
